Options for Care

The Ohio State Headache Clinic provides care for our patients in a variety of ways. Select the different options for care below to learn more about how you might receive care from the Headache Clinic at Ohio State.

Electronic or E-Consult

This is a good option for people with specific questions about the best next treatment to try, and is the fastest way to get information from our providers because you don't have to wait for an appointment.

During an E-consult, a headache specialist will suggest care recommendations based on relevant information from your medical record.
The headache specialist will inform your primary care provider or the provider who's managing your headaches of these recommendations.
You'll follow up with your provider to learn about the next steps for your headache management.
If you are interested in an e-consult, please talk to your referring provider.

Telemedicine

These are audio and video visits with one of our providers. These can be good options for people who don't have any current new functional problems as a result of their headache or for people who have difficulty traveling for an office visit.

All patients who are seen through a telemedicine visit must have a referral to the Ohio State Headache Clinic. If you have a referral, you may request a telemedicine visit when you call to schedule your appointment with us 614-293-4969.

Standard Office Visit

This is likely the type of visit that you're most familiar with.
You visit the doctor’s office and have an in-person meeting with one of our physicians.
This type of visit usually takes the longest to be scheduled.
